Circular ride for all the family
The "Gailtal Radweg R3" cycle path starts in Kötschach-Mauthen and follows the Gail river through Nötsch as far as Villach.

This clearly signposted cycle path passes through many small villages, taking in traditional farms and guesthouses selling homemade produce such as "Gailtaler Speck“ dried bacon and "Gailtaler Almkäse" cheese.
If you get tired of cycling then get the train back. There are 10 trains a day which stop at Nötsch - check local timetable.
Beautifully located amid mountains, forests and meadows, the crystal-clear Pressegger See boasts super clean water fit for drinking and, thanks to the many sunshine hours here, it is one of Austria’s warmest swimming lakes.
Sports: swimming, wind surfing, sailing, fishing, Nordic walking around the lake.
Facilities: bathing beach with large play area, boat rental, wind surfing school, sports and leisure center, fun park, camping sites.
The Weissensee is one of the smaller, but exquisitely beautiful, Carinthian lakes. At 1000m above sea level, this is Carinthia’s highest lake. With a temperature of around 24°C, the clear and clean water is refreshing even on the hottest of days, has fantastic visibility and plenty of fish.
As two thirds of the lakeshores are protected by conservation laws, the area offers great scenic beauty. Ideal for those in search of a peaceful break, as well as for families with young children.
