Circular ride for all the family
The "Gailtal Radweg R3" cycle path starts in Kötschach-Mauthen and follows the Gail river through Nötsch as far as Villach.
Discover all the cycle trails in the region, including GPS data, photos and details. Available for iPhone and Android, search for Alpe Adria Radweg
This clearly signposted cycle path passes through many small villages, taking in traditional farms and guesthouses selling homemade produce such as "Gailtaler Speck“ dried bacon and "Gailtaler Almkäse" cheese.
If you get tired of cycling then get the train back. There are 10 trains a day which stop at Nötsch - check local timetable.

Presseggersee
Beautifully located amid mountains, forests and meadows, the crystal-clear Pressegger See boasts super clean water fit for drinking and, thanks to the many sunshine hours here, it is one of Austria’s warmest swimming lakes.
Sports: swimming, wind surfing, sailing, fishing, Nordic walking around the lake.
Facilities: bathing beach with large play area, boat rental, wind surfing school, sports and leisure center, fun park, camping sites.

Faaker See
The turquoise Lake Faak with its idyllic island in the middle looks almost like paradise. Active holidaymakers can look forward to all sorts of activities not only on and in the water, but all around the lake too. Tips: a kayak tour through the reed belt, the Kopein mountain bike trail, the Kanzianiberg rock climbing centre, hiking on the Alpe-Adria-Trail (Stage 22) and a visit to the European Bike Week.
